Tickets

Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay cash?

Yes – advanced ticket purchase is required.  Purchasing tickets at the start of our tour would not allow us enough time to work with our food vendors to ensure food tastings are prepared for you.  We encourage you to book well in advance to maximize your chances of successfully reserving the day, time and number of tickets you prefer. If a food tour is sold out, can I get on a waiting list?

If a tour date or specific tour time is sold out, there is always a good chance that we will add an additional tour on that day so please contact us directly at info@sipandsavorbermuda.com or call 1-441-70SAVOR or 1-441-707-2867.

Can I get a refund on my tickets or reschedule my tour after I purchase them?

Tickets purchased for our City of Hamilton Walking tour are non-refundable.  Under normal circumstances tours cannot be cancelled or rescheduled.  However, if tours are cancelled due to severe inclement weather (such as hurricane), we will gladly reschedule your tour or refund your ticket purchase.

Do you run tours on Sundays or Public Holidays?

Unfortunately, No.  All tours are offered Monday – Saturday and are not available during Bermuda public holidays.  We would love to hosts tours during Sunday’s and Public holidays but the majority of businesses here in Bermuda close down during those days – including most of our food vendors.  We apologize if we aren’t able to accommodate you in this case and hope host your sometime in the future.  (Link to Bermuda Public Holidays)

Food & Drink

How much food is served on the food tour?

Our tours include enough food for a hearty lunch that you will not leave hungry.  With the combination of 8 food and drink tastings, in addition to cultural insight along the way, most participants are comfortable after our food tours.  Please note that our food tour is not intended to replace a meal so consider eating breakfast before the tour.

Is there a wine or alcohol tasting included on the tour?

Yes – our tour includes tastings our national drinks – rum swizzle or Dark and Stormy.  In select locations, participants may be able to purchase alcoholic beverages.  Please note that this is optional, time permitting and the cost is not included in your ticket purchase.

Are any beverages served on the tour?

All food tours include a drink tasting and water will be provided at most locations.  We suggest that you bring water to stay hydrated during your tour as it tends to be warm and humid during the summer months.

What types of foods are served on the tour?

Food is provided from a combinations of different restaurants like food trucks, takeout restaurants, cafes, mom and pop shops and fine dining restaurants.  You will sample national dishes as well as other ethnic cuisine.

What restaurants will we visit on the tour?

The tasting locations will be given to you at the beginning of the tour in a tour map so that you can find the locations after the tour.   Please note that participating locations can change without notice.

What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies?

We can cater for vegetarians, but unfortunately we are unable to make substitutions for vegans or for dietary restrictions and food allergies (such as gluten-free or dairy-free). There isn’t always a “next best” option that meets the special dietary needs of each of our guests. We are sorry for the inconvenience but, we truly appreciate your understanding on this issue. Please feel free to email us with specific queries.

Are there vegetarian options on the tour?

Yes, our City of Hamilton food tour offers some alternative tasting options for vegetarians; however, this may not always be the case in some instances. Please be sure to notify us of your dietary restrictions when you purchase your ticket.

Tour Logistics

How much walking is involved? Is it a fast-paced tour?

Our City of Hamilton Food tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and participants can expect to be walk to each location.  At most locations there will be seating, however there will be some locations that there will be standing.  We cover about 1 mile and walk at a comfortable moderate pace.

Does the tour end at the same place we begin?

Yes, the tour ends at the same location where we started.  Ferry and bus directions will be given at the end of the tour.

Are bathrooms available during the tour?

Yes, bathrooms are available during our tour at selected locations.  Your guide will be sure to let you know at the beginning of the tour when the bathroom breaks will occur and remind you throughout the tour as well.

Do we only walk around and sample food?

Absolutely Not! Our tours combine local culture and a historical culinary insight into a 2.5hour experience.  Come and experience the UNSEEN & UNTASTED Bermuda where you can eat, drink like a localand become an honorary Bermudian!

The 11 AM tour starting time does NOT work with my schedule- is it possible to request a different tour starting time?

Contact us directly with your request for a special tour time and well will make our best efforts to accommodate you.

How do I get to the tour starting point from my cruise ship or hotel?

Guest are responsible for getting themselves to the Tour.  From Dockyard you can catch the ferry into Hamilton or St. George’s and be at the designated start of the tour – The Visitor’s Information Center.  You can catch a number 11 or 10 Bus into Hamilton if you are coming from the East the walk down Queen Street to Front Street to the Ferry Terminal.  Or a number 8 or 7 bus from the West into Hamilton and get off at the Ferry Terminal. Ferries are available from Hamilton which stops in Dockyard and then goes to St. George’s.  Please check the bus and ferry schedule to ensure that you give yourself enough time for the start of the tour.

Important Pre-Tour Information

When is the best time to take the tour?

We recommend taking our tour at the beginning of your visit, especially if you have never been to Bermuda before.  This will give you an opportunity to learn the lay of the land and be able to navigate Bermuda and it culinary cuisine.  In addition, we recommend you taking our tours early in your visit so that you can have an opportunity to head back to your favorite tasting location after the tour.

Do you cancel tours due to rain or other bad weather?

All tours are held rain or shine.  In the event of inclement weather, we will be able to go inside most establishments.  We also provide ponchos or umbrellas in case of sudden weather changes if you do not have your own.  We advise you to check the weather conditions for your tour date to dress and prepare appropriately.  If severe weather does hamper the tour, you will receive a full refund for a future tour to use at your convenience.

What do I need to bring on the tour?

In addition to your appetite, please bring along your confirmation email with your e-ticket.  Persons must be 18 and over to legally drink in Bermuda; bring your valid ID as it is a must for certain establishments.  We suggest wearing comfortable clothing and shoes.  As it can be hot and humid in Bermuda we recommend wearing sun protection since glasses, a hat etc.  We also suggest that you bring a camera to capture the memories at our Selfie Spots and gratuity for your guide if they impress you.

Are tours offered only in English?

Yes, we only offer tours in English at this time.  Please call or email us if you would like to make arrangements.

What is your late policy?

The first portion of our tour is a meet and greet introduction for about 10 minutes or so this will allow for any late comers.  After that the tour must go on to ensure that we arrive at our tasting locations on time.  If you are scheduled for a tour and you know you are running behind, please call us to let us know before the tour begins so that we can give you directions on where to meet us enroute.

Are cameras allowed on the tour?

Of Course!  Cameras and filming are allowed and encouraged during the tour.  We strongly encourage you to take as many photos as can during the tour.  We also have Selfie Stops at certain locations that we believe will be memorable.  We would love for you to share your experiences, pictures and videos with us by email Facebook or via Twitter.  Please let us know if we have your permission to publish your pictures on our website and social media.

Gift Certificates & Private Tours

Are gift certificates available?

Yes.  The City of Hamilton Food Tour gift certificates are available.  To purchase, please contact us via email and you will be contacted regarding payment and further instructions regarding enquiry.

Can I book a private group tour?

Yes, Private Group Food Tours are available for the City of Hamilton and St. George’s Food tour.  To learn more, please contact us via email.

Other Queries

Does the tour leader accept gratuities?

Absolutely!  Our guides are the heartbeat of the tour.  If you have enjoyed yourself, gratuities are greatly appreciated, although never mandatory.  The standard gratuity in the service industry is 15% – 20% or in correlation to the performance of your guide of course.

Can I shop during the tour?

Due to pre-arranged timing of the tour stops, we kindly ask that you wait to shop until after the tour is completed so that we can stay on our food-tasting schedule and ensure that we arrive at our vendor locations in a timely manner. Remaining on our schedule ensures that the food and beverage at each stop are freshly prepared for your arrival.  If you would like to return to your favorite location after the tour to make purchases, our guides will be happy to direct you to that establishment.  We will also provide you with a detailed map displaying our route so that you can return to any of the tasting locations at your leisure.

Are tours led by certified tour guides?

Yes. All of our tours are led by professional tour guides that have been certified as a Certified Tourism Ambassador and the Corporation of Hamilton.  They are the best in the business!

Do your tours have anything to offer a native Bermudian?

Absolutely! While you may be familiar with our route and some of the stops, opportunity exists to try new items you may have not tried at the location as well as to learn more about the establishments themselves.  Also, being local you will have the unique opportunity to revisit many of the eateries we will visit; as well as others we recommend at your leisure.

Do I need to purchase a ticket if I’m not eating?

Yes – all guest must purchase a ticket whether they plan to partake in the food tasting or not.  Ticket fees help cover the costs of food samplings and for your tour guide’s wages, whom are offering valuable commentary on Bermuda’s historical and cultural information.
